Physical Description:

The Jhi'Mar'Oog, also known as the "space born" is a race of highly intelligent bipedal creatures.  They resemble anthropomorphic canines, though it is more likely that they descended from cervines.  Their bodies are covered in a coat of thick fur.  The color of their fur ranges from light tan to black.

Their muzzles are elongated and the bridge of their noses arched.   Their ears are long and taper down to a point at the end.  Males have manes of long blonde hair as well as beards.  Jhi'Mar'Oogs of high status will braid their manes into intricate patterns and decorate them with fine jewelry.  Both males and females have a set of horns atop their heads as well as a spotted pattern on their jawlines.

Their bodies are heavily muscled with long arms and short digitigrade legs.  Each foot has four clawed toes as well as a dewclaw.  The end of their toes are "capped" with a hoof-like nail.  If threatened, they can drop down on all fours and run like an animal though most Jhi'Mar'Oog see this as "uncivilized" and avoid doing to at all costs.

Most of them wear loose robes.

Society/Ecology:

The Jhi'Mar'Oog are an ancient race and are considered to be the wisest creatures in the galaxy.  Their species is so ancient that the sun of their homeworld burned out eons ago.  Today, most of them live in colonies in space that orbit other planets, giving them their nickname "The Space Born".  They are credited with the discovery of hyperspace travel as well as forming the galactic alliance.

They are generally even tempered.  Their speech reflects their infinite wisdom while their voices are soothing and melodic.  Their true language is nearly extinct, since most of them prefer to speak galactic common.  Only their wisest scholars still speak their old language.  A Jhi'Mar'Oog will never fight unless it is a necessary last resort.  In battle, they see using one's claws as dishonorable because they see their claws as tools, not weapons.

They are omnivorous, and will eat whatever food is common in their area.  They have slow metabolism and only need to eat once every two days or so.

Jhi'Mar'Oog are exceptionally long-lived.  Their lives span about 800 years.  They will choose a mate and stick with her until she dies.  Upon the death of a mate, a Jhi'Mar'Oog may either choose to select another mate, or never select another again in order to remain loyal to their deceased spouse.  During their lives, they will only have 3-4 children.

There are a few small groups of rebel Jhi'Mar'Oog that see themselves as a race that is superior to all others.  These groups want nothing to do with other races or the kinder Jhi'Mar'Oog that interact with them.  These Jhi'mar'Oog are paranoid, arrogant, and can be quite violent.

Jhi'Mar'Oog Names:

Traditional Jhi'Mar'Oog names are always long and sophisticated sounding, often containing apostrophes.  These names are often based off words in their ancient language.  While Jhi'Mar'Oog first names have become more "modernized" over the years, their last names have retained this traditional sound as a tribute to their heritage.  Because they commonly interact with members of other races, many recent Jhi'Mar'Oog first names reflect words and names in other languages.  These modern names still have a sound of sophistication.

Examples of typical traditional Jhi'Mar'Oog First Names:     Say'lar, A'Ondra, Rn'Bel, Emont'H, N'Issar

Examples of typical modern Jhi'Mar'Oog First Names:  Althur, Therest, Zarroth, Aalton, Endel
