All art, characters, and stories on this site ©
Traci "Ulario" Vermeesch unless otherwise noted. I always make sure
to give credit when it's due.
The internet is a nifty invention. Before the invention of the
internet, you probably would have never seen such a wide array of
artwork. Unfortunately, people seem to think that just because
something is on the internet, it is automatically free for anybody
to use. That is not the case. Do not assume that since the artwork
you see online is free for anyone to use for any reason.
Image Usage
The art on this site is free for you to enjoy online any time you
wish. You have my permission to download my art to your computer for
your own personal use (wallpapers, or just to enjoy whenever you'd
like).
You have permission to print out my artwork for private, personal
use, such as hanging on a corkboard in your room or in your locker.
However, if you really like a picture... I'd recommend buying a
print. Not only does it help put me through college, but will be a
high quality, hand signed print without any of the watermarks!
My gallery is NOT your personal clip art bin. You may not use my
pictures for your website, avatars, custom trading cards, etc!
The only exception to this would be if you order a commission from
me, you may crop it into an avatar for yourself.
If you would like to post one of my pictures to your personal
homepage please contact me first. I am usually pretty cool about
someone using my unaltered pictures on their webpage as long as they
ask first. I just like to know where my art is being used. I will
not allow my artwork on any site with content that I disapprove of.
That means no yiff/porn sites, anti furry sites, or any site that
promotes hate propaganda of any type! You must also give me credit
for the work as well as post a link to my website (tracivermeesch.com)
nearby.
If you have ordered a commission from me, then you have already
bought the right to post your commissioned picture on your website.
The same rules about giving me credit as well as not posting it on
sites I would not approve of and not removing watermarks apply. I
would prefer that you not post any of your commissioned pictures on
art gallery sites like DeviantArt. More info about commission
copyrights below.
You may not alter, copy, resize, or crop any of my artwork. That
means no making avatars or signatures with my artwork. If you want
an avatar, please contact me and I'd be happy to do a avatar
commission for you.
You may not copy or trace my work to the point where it is
recognizable as my work and then upload it anywhere.
If you want to trace one of my pictures to learn to draw... I DON'T
RECOMMEND IT! You'd be learning all of my mistakes and trust me, I
do make a lot of them. However, if you INSIST on doing that I give
permission, since that is one of the ways that I learned how to
draw. However... You may not, for any reason, repost your traced
image anyplace on the internet.
You may not use my artwork for anything that plan to make money off
of. I WILL take legal action against anybody I catch doing this! If
you would like to use my artwork in anything that you plan to sell,
I do expect a certain percent in royalties. The only exception to
this would be for a possibly charity/non profit thing.
Keep in mind that unlike many artists who draw for a hobby, my art
is my livelihood. That means that stealing my art is pretty much
stealing from my paycheck. It could mean taking money away from my
college education or living expenses.
Additional Commission Copyrights
If you have bought or are thinking of buying a commission from me,
this is important to know! Even though all the characters and ideas
in your commission are © to you the image that I create is © to me.
There is quite a big difference there.
I do understand that your characters are your babies, since I feel
the same way about my own characters so out of respect for you I
will not sell prints of your commission to anybody but you. Unlike
some artists, I will not charge extra to do this. It's automatically
included in the commission. HOWEVER, I reserve the right to use the
image in any way that I see fit. Including, but not limited to:
* My portfolios… either college or professional.
* Art books!
* Art shows and exhibitions. I have featured commissioned work in
these before.
* Any “How To Draw” books I create in the future (highly unlikely
that I'd include it, but it could happen).
* If I ever create an archival CD of all my work since 1997 it WILL
be on there! I doubt I'll ever make one of these, but the idea is
still there.
Once again... You have permission to post the watermarked copy of
your commission on your websites as long as you DO NOT claim it as
your own, post a link to my website nearby and do not post it on any
websites that I would not agree with (yiff sites, anti fur sites,
etc). Those watermarks are there to help protect your characters as
well as my art from being stolen so they benefit both of us.
These commission copyrights have pretty much been set in stone for
about five years, so please do not ask me to change them for you
since it ain't going to happen. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just
protecting my rights as an artist.
If I sound cranky, it's because I probably am and I'm sory for that.
I just get tired of art/character thieves.
